Hello, I'm Emily! What's Your Name?

Good morning everyone,

I have a few spare moments in my morning as emails are quiet at work, so I thought I'd introduce myself and make a start on my blog!

I'm Emily, I'm 22 and a Guide and Brownie leader in Hertfordshire.

I have been involved in Guiding my whole life, following in the footsteps of my Nan (Brownies) and my mother (Rainbows & Brownies). I started as a Rainbow, and I'm am now the leader of my Guide unit back in November 2020. I am also currently working towards my Queen's Guide Award, due to finish in the next year.

Any of my friends will tell you how much I love a badge! I had a slight thing during lockdown of buying many badges - so many pretty ones, and lots of groups were fundraising so I couldn't say no! So anyway, my camp blanket is getting full (or it will do once I sew everything on)! 

So here we are, I've joined the Rebel Badge Club!

Brought to you by Charly Lester, the Rebel Badge Book is a number of badges created for adults to have fun completing and challenging themselves to have a go at something new. They are based upon the children's badges, but with tasks designed with adults in mind. There are so many interesting badges in the book and although I've started a couple already, I can't wait to make a start on all the others! 

To start off with, I have earned my Community Service badge for receiving my Five-Year Service award, back in February this year. I've been helping out at my units for a long time, starting as a Guide helper at Brownies when I was 13, then taking on my Young Leader Qualification and have been helping at all the age groups. I'm now a fully-fledged leader with my own Guide unit - one I have been with since a little Guide and so I have just 'celebrated' 12 years with this unit - and what a great time I've had with them! Here's to many more!

Stay tuned to this blog for updates on badges - there are a fair few in progress (My Roots, Craft, Animal Lover to start with!) and I will upload my progess on each! Please also feel free to comment and message and ask any questions!
