I've just had a check in on Facebook, but would dump specifics of ideas here - I was in the mood for waffling & providing an update so here you go!
I have been dipping in and out of badges and so I apologise for the "bits"!
My Roots Update
My family tree has grown since the last update on here. My Mum bought me an Ancestry DNA kit which I sent off at the beginning of December, and they are currently processing the results so I will hopefully hear back within 6-8 weeks! I have only added an extra 9 people to my tree, but I know a lot of close family are missing because I haven't got round to adding them yet. I have had another chat with my maternal grandmother, and found a load of old documents from my great-grandfather (pictured), including letters, ration books & identity cards, family pictures, memories from his time in India. He served as an 'Oik' in WW2 and was mentioned in Dispatches for saving a pilot from a burning plane on the airfield!
Next stages: Talk to my paternal grandmother to find out more about that side of the family. We were due to visit a Great Aunt this weekend for a catch up (and so I could ask questions about family), but plans have changed so this is postponed!
Another plan is to make a map of locations of important family history so I can plan a road trip one weekend with my Nan to take her to various places of her history. I am closer with her, and she has expressed a lot of interest in researching this as the family hasn't moved far and we have most of her family ties around Hertfordshire (Middlesex) and Essex.
