Wellness: Self Care (1)

I warned you of the 'bits'..!

Thank you if you've read through these - even if it's just a click to view and realise you've made a mistake on starting to read my waffle, I appreciate the click!

Self Care

Clause One: Find the perfect bath recipe!

So this is one I thought of last night as I wanted a relaxing bath to calm and de-stress myself before bed.

Don't get me wrong, it was a nice bath but not as relaxing as I may have wanted... My Brownies planted an idea in my head about creating a challenge badge and my brain went into overdrive thinking up ideas and activities for it, so I spent my time researching and making notes!

Perfect Bath = a deep bath + hot water (steams the bathroom out kind) + muscle-relaxing bubble bath + scented candle + peace & quiet + and a large G&T*!

Last night's bath ticked hot, bubbly, candly, and boozy... but the bath itself wasn't perfect!

You see, I cat and house sit for a couple and when I went to meet them, they said about the bath being amazing and boy they were right! Lovely and deep and it was great to sink into to really relax! I have had several baths since, including some at fancy hotels, but they haven't compared to this one!

* It could be any other alcohol, but my tipple of choice is a bathtub gin!

Next steps:

I work 3 jobs, volunteer for Brownies & Guides, and occasionally plan events for my county's Scout Network, so I'm quite bad on relaxing and getting myself into good habits, so that is my focus for the New Year!

The four areas I want to tackle are:

- Sleep: I am terrible for getting enough sleep. I'm definitely a night owl as opposed to an early bird, but I am terrible for being incredibly tired but still staying up til the small hours!

- Bedtime: To help myself with sleeping, I need to create a better bedtime routine. At the moment it's: get into bed, scroll through social media for hours, turn phone off because I should really get some sleep, play sleep sounds on Alexa, wake up grumpy because I've not slept enough. The routine needs to be sorted, but still flexible to work round jobs, boyfriend etc.

- Screen Time: If you haven't guessed, my smartphone is my biggest problem... Curse you social media! I am in desperate need of cutting down screen time, especially before bed!

- Pamper: I love getting my nails done, and I love a massage - they make me feel so much better and confident in myself! I spoilt myself for my Birthday last year. I don't usually have time in my calendar, but I will try to pamper myself at least once a month (that makes me sound so entitled but I generally don't do much to relax properly (except go to the pub for a few pints!))
